چکیده
Underwater Internet-of-Things (UIoT) is an extension of technology in underwater. The underwater acoustic network with WiFi architecture (UW-WiFi), as a specific deployment UIoT, has been proved to be promising technique for wide-ranging marine applications. However, due the unique features channel, such long and variable propagation delay, low available bandwidth high bit error rate, conventional medium access control (MAC) protocols designed terrestrial networks need overhaul work efficiently UW-WiFi networks. In consideration aforementioned channel features, different demands nodes occupy resources reliability data transmission, time sequence-based dynamic on-demand assignment (SDDA) MAC protocol proposed this paper. SDDA, collision-free scheduling integrated reservation mechanism, aiming address issue various requirements diverse task on system. employs delays amount sent by terminal achieve non-conflict transmissions packets packets. Additionally, scheme does not require extra overhead synchronization. Comparison simulations demonstrate that SDDA provides considerable benefits terms utilization, end-to-end delay packet delivery ratio. UW-MAC: An underwater sensor network MAC protocol
As over 70 percent of the earth’s surface is covered by water, it is desirable to deploy underwater sensor networks to support oceanic research. Under Water Sensor Networks (UWSNs) use acoustic waves and are characterized by long and variable propagation delays, intermittent connectivity, limited bandwidth and low bit rates. Energy savings have always been the primary concern in wireless sensor...
متن کاملEvaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...

The IEEE 802.15.4 Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is an enabling standard for wireless sensor networks. In order to support applications requiring dedicated bandwidth or bounded delay, it provides a reservation-based scheme named Guaranteed Time Slot (GTS). However, the GTS scheme presents some drawbacks, such as inefficient bandwidth utilization and support to a maximum of only seven devi...

متن کاملDOS: Distributed On-demand Scheduling for High Performance MAC in Underwater Acoustic Networks
In underwater acoustic networks (UANs), due to the unique characteristics of acoustic modems such as long preambles and extremely low transmission rates, contentions are usually costly. As a result, both random access and handshake based MAC protocols do not perform as well as expected. A collisionfree approach is therefore considered to more likely achieve a better performance. Following this ...
